When custom-fitted to your ear and preferences, hearing aids are extremely successful and work extremely well. Having a professional fitting is of utmost importance.

The first step is making sure your hearing aids feel comfortable after being placed. After programming them, we will check your hearing while wearing the hearing aids. Afterward, we’ll demonstrate how to care for your hearing aids as well as how to use any advanced features.

Based on your lifestyle, preferences, and hearing test results, we will program your new hearing aids. We can fine-tune your hearing aids to assist with hearing in a variety of locations like shopping centers, restaurants, loud homes, or other difficult situations. Remember that everybody needs personalized hearing aid settings; what works for your spouse or best friend will not necessarily work for you.

Some clients adjust to their new hearing aids in just a few days, but it’s more likely to take somewhere between a few weeks and a few months. Generally speaking, the amount of time it takes to adjust to your hearing aids is proportional to how long and severe the hearing loss was (this is why it’s important to come in sooner rather than later!). Fortunately, our staff is expertly trained to help you with acclimating and adjusting to your new hearing aids and helping you with any rehabilitation needed.

Be patient. It usually takes a few visits to get the best setting for your hearing aids. This is normal and a part of adjusting to wearing hearing aids. We want you to be as comfortable as possible and will be happy to adjust your aids as many times as you need.

Hearing aids work incredibly well once placed and fitted by our professional staff, but they will need to be adjusted over the first few months. We want you to keep track of situations where your hearing is much improved and situations where you are still struggling. Modern hearing aids are easily programmable, and even the smallest adjustment will have a large effect on your ability to hear. If they are too quiet, too loud, or uncomfortable, they need to be adjusted.

WHAT IF MY HEARING AID NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED?

Regular cleanings are important to the longevity of your hearing aids. But if you notice feedback, interference, they slip out of place, or if there are other signs that they are not working properly, please bring them in to our office so our professional team can inspect the device.

While we’re inspecting your hearing aids, we may repeat your hearing test to make sure your hearing aid needs have not changed.

Remember the best way to maximize the benefits of your hearing aids are period adjustment, regular cleanings, and ongoing check-ups.

HOW OUR HEARING AID REPAIR SERVICE WORKS

If your hearing aids need to be fixed, come in to our office. Many times we can perform simple repairs while you wait. In the event of a more severely damaged hearing aid, we send them back to the manufacturer for repair using Federal Express or DHL. We understand that every day without your hearing aids is a day of missed hearing opportunity!

TEMPORARY HEARING AIDS DURING REPAIRS

Just like getting a loaner car while yours is in the shop, we can provide you with temporary hearing aids through our loaner service if yours are being repaired. We have a wide range of in-the-ear and canal aids, as well as standard behind-the-ear selections. Although they won’t be as good as your custom-fitted hearing aids, it will get you through until your hearing aid is returned.
